Things to know BEFORE your wedding dress appointment

1. Try to Limit Your Entourage

It is wise to bring one or two of your closest friends or family members to help with your search and they are most welcome. Any more people than this and you can begin to feel pressured by others opinions and you will become confused. You are the one trying on the dress and you are the only one who truly knows how it feels when worn. Listen to advice, but remember that it is your dress and your day. The fewer people that see the dress beforehand – the more of a surprise it will be on your wedding day!

2. Undergarments

Nude coloured pants and a strapless bra are the very best thing that you can wear when trying on wedding dresses. Seam free larger pants (think Bridget Jones!!) are ideal as they will work under even the most fitted of gowns. You only need to bring the specific underwear you will be wearing on your wedding day once you have chosen your gown and are having your first fitting.

3. A consultant will be in the changing room with you

You will be joined in the dressing room by one of our experienced consultants who will assist you in and out of each dress.

4. Weekday appointments are much quieter than Weekends

Consider taking a half day holiday for your first appointment. You will most likely have the showroom to yourself during the week and you will have a very relaxing experience. Weekends do get booked up quicker than weekdays and can be busier.

5. Appointment Charges

At BOA Boutique we only charge for Thursday evening appointments as we keep our store open on that evening especially for brides who cannot visit us during regular working hours. The charge for a Thursday evening appointment is £25 and is refunded if you place a dress order. We do not charge for any other appointments, including weekends. The bride to be will have a one and a half hour, one-on-one consultation with one of our experienced consultant at her appointment.

6. Have an open mind when it comes to styles

Yes, it is important to know your own style – but you might be surprised how good you look and feel in a style, cut, or length you normally wouldn’t have considered. Wedding Dress shopping is nothing like High Street shopping so be open to trying something that one of our experienced consultants think may work for your body type.

7. Cameras

Designers do not allow photographs of their gowns to be taken during your appointment so we respectfully request no pictures. Your consultant will always write down the style details of your gown so that you can find professional, high quality pictures online.

8. Relax, Enjoy it and have Fun

This is the most important thing to remember. This is a truly special time in your life, so enjoy the experience and let us take care of you.
